# Record, upload, or import

> Analyze an in-person meeting, an existing recording, or a transcript.

Organization owners, administrators, and team facilitators can add meetings this way.

## Record or upload audio

On the team's dashboard card, choose **Record or upload audio**. On a small screen, the action may appear as **Record audio**.

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Record">
    1. Confirm the team, meeting title, date, and meeting format.
    2. Choose the recording option and allow your browser to use the microphone.
    3. Check that the selected microphone can hear everyone.
    4. Start recording. Keep the page open while you record.
    5. Stop and submit the recording for analysis.

    A browser microphone recording captures what the microphone hears. It does not automatically capture another app's audio.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Upload">
    1. Choose the upload option.
    2. Select your recording. Common audio formats include MP3, WAV, M4A, and WebM.
    3. Confirm the team, meeting title, date, and meeting format.
    4. Submit the file and follow its processing status on the dashboard.

    Follow the file types and size limit shown in the uploader. Use a recording with clear speech and as little background noise as possible.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

<Tip>
  For a room recording, place the microphone where it can hear the whole group. Let one person speak at a time when possible.
</Tip>

## Import a transcript

Choose **Import a transcript** on the team's dashboard card. In **Import past meeting**:

1. Select the team and **Meeting format**.
2. Enter the **Meeting title** and **Meeting date**.
3. Paste the **Transcript**, or choose **Upload .txt file**. The file picker also accepts supported text, CSV, VTT, and SRT transcripts.
4. Keep speaker names and timestamps where available.
5. Select **Import & analyze**.

Use the meeting's actual date so it appears in the right place in the team's history.

<Note>
  A transcript import does not add the underlying recording. Speaking-time estimates depend on the speaker turns and information in the transcript.
</Note>

## After submission

Open the meeting from the dashboard to follow processing and read the report when it is ready. Processing time depends on the input and current workload.

If a recording fails or transcription is deferred, see [troubleshooting](/troubleshooting/meetings). If the actions are missing, ask an administrator to check your team role.
